FAQ - Questions And History

• "ERROR: Not in trial folder!!" displayed in the first menu
• What Is A Java Applet?
• Will Applets Work On Every PC?
• External URLs Don't Work

• HISTORY - What's Been Fixed?

"ERROR: Not in trial folder!!"
This problem will only occur on the trial verion of Expand Menu Studio. It means you are attempting to use the trial menu applet outside of the trial folder. This is one of the limitations of the trial and the menu links will be disabled.

To correct the situation, simply re-export the menu into a folder in the trial folder path.

What Is A Java Applet?
A Java applet is a tiny 3rd party program that is downloaded onto your site visitor's computer. The Expand Menu Studio software includes a Java applet containing a pre-compiled animation system with an automatic navigation program, allowing you to simply and quickly configure it and add menus to your web pages.

Will Applets Work On Every PC?
The vast majority of Windows computers (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP) are distributed with the capability of running Java applets. Additionally, Java applets are compatible with most popular internet browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Netscape Navigator.

External URLs Don't Work
External URLs must be prefixed by "http://".

If you define - say - www.wibbleware.com as a 'MenuAddr' property value, you will find this does not work because Expand Menu Studio treats it like a relative URL. The only way that you can direct Expand Menu Studio to an external URL is to use the full address syntax - e.g. http://www.wibbleware.com

HISTORY - What's Been Fixed?
